"Cubic Space" for Marie Claire
How long does it take to make a photo? 1/125 of a second and 54 years.
In reality, most photographs require only a few hours of work. These images took only an hour to shoot but days and days to prepare. The boxes and compositions are real, with post-production limited to minor edge repair. I guess this idea could have been executed digitally, but I prefer the mix of spontaneity and precision that comes in making still lifes with paper prints and scissors. I love the way the bags visually slip in and out of their cubed surfaces. The longer you look at them, the more you see. How long does it take to see a photo? To find out, click here.
